Large storage containers are often known as intermodal containers or ISO containers. The dimensions of large shipping containers are 8’ X 9’ 6” X 40 feet long. Originally made for cargo shipping, their standardized design allows them to be used on ships, railcars, trucks and other modes of transport while keeping the contents intact.
